Le plus grand problème à ce jour pour calculer le carbone peut se résumer par « le problème de la dentelle ». Les sites de déforestation dans le Sud global ressemblent, à leurs limites, beaucoup plus à de la dentelle ajourée qu’à des lignes bien délimitées.
Même si cette méthodologie est, sur le plan conceptuel, une méthodologie de restauration, nous recommandons que la couche de carbone s’étende en dehors des segments de restauration et couvre toute la parcelle inscrite.
cependant, les avantages de limiter un site à la seule restauration lors de l’évaluation de son carbone sont minimes.
