# ¿Qué es la iteración?

Con el crecimiento lineal, construyes algo y sigues añadiéndole cosas con el tiempo. Con la iteración, construyes algo, lo tiras o lo desmontas, y lo vuelves a construir desde cero con la información de la primera construcción. 

Puedes ver que son diferentes porque el crecimiento lineal añade sobre la misma base; la iteración reconstruye la *base* también, basándose en la información del producto final. 

Estas son formas de pensar fundamentalmente distintas. En la alta tecnología y la ingeniería, las han comparado. Y aunque no tenga mucho sentido —porque estás reconstruyendo las mismas estructuras dos o tres veces—, la iteración en realidad llega a soluciones robustas más rápido y de forma más eficiente. 

### Es difícil tirar cosas

Cuando las cosas no funcionan, hay un sesgo cognitivo llamado «costes hundidos». Ponemos energía en la mala solución y no queremos admitir que hemos desperdiciado nuestro tiempo. 

Pero esto es un juego mental; no desperdiciamos nuestro tiempo si aprendimos una mejor manera de hacer las cosas. Es realmente importante darse cuenta de cuándo actuamos o construimos bajo la falacia de los costes hundidos.
